Explore the powerfully dramatic music and fascinating history and culture of taiko drumming at one of our weekly classes and education sessions.

Established in 2000 by the Taikoz ensemble, our many classes and programs enable students to learn about the art of wadaiko (Japanese drumming) and develop skills in making music – and having great fun at the same time!

Our student base is a varied one. From experienced musicians and drumming enthusiasts to the first-time beginner, and from young children to mature adults, all are united in learning new skills and making music with other people.

All of our classes follow a set curriculum that includes the study and performance of musical pieces, instruction in technical basics, movement, dance and song. Everything from general musicianship, history, conceptual ideas and how to handle the instruments is also taught.

For those wanting to experience taiko for the first time, we recommend you attend Play Taiko: Intro Workshop (these are held regularly throughout the year), or join a weekly Beginners class.

Our classes cater to all levels of experience and no prior musical training is required. We encourage you to join us and experience the beauty of taiko for yourself!
